Lean Green Belt Training for Insurance Sector
The Lean Green Belt training is effective and helps to build a lot of skills and learn fundamental items. Lot of organizations have a lot of waste that they don’t realize – after the Lean training you can easily identify and eliminate them. You can apply a lot of the Lean principles in your organization.
“The Lean Green Belt Training that I’ve been taking has been pretty good. It’s been effective, I’ve learned quite a lot,” says Shannon Fernandes from Insurance Industry. “I initially had the Yellow Bell Training that has helped me build on a lot of the skills and fundamental items that I’ve learned. The Green Belt’s been helpful in the sense that I have a better understanding of how to apply the Lean principles, how I should take this back to my organization and make it work for my organization.”
“Within organization I think I can imply a lot of the Lean principles that I’ve learned,” he continues. “I think I can look at a lot of waste. A lot of organizations have a lot of waste that they don’t realize either through culture or through years of just doing things a certain way. And with some of the skills CJ provided I think I can go back, really identify the 8 main areas of waste and see what we can target. By limiting waste, we get more efficient and that’s just one aspect of it. There are a lot of other aspects of Lean that I plan to eventually take back. It’s the simplest thing, a lot of those are low-hanging fruit that I can look to improve and fix and then apply some of the other Lean principles to ensure that we can increase our capacity and the output we provide.”

It was the second course that Shannon Fernandes has attended with CJ. He did the Yellow Belt with him and now the Green Belt and he thinks that CJ is a good presenter. “What I find interesting about his classes, he makes them fun, interactively not just sitting and listening to someone for the whole day. We are up and moving around, working groups. He gets us working, gets us thinking and I think that’s what I like the best is a lot of actual examples from his experience, as well as things that he provides us that he finds from other companies or institutions that have incorporated Lean principles and Lean guidelines. CJ is just a friendly guy, he’s always willing to help, offers everyone help after the classes which I think is important. It shows that he cares more than just about getting us in here and is helping us getting valuable information from the training he has provided us. So I’ve been really pleased with CJ’s classes.”
“I think for a lot of organizations out there who have problems, who think of their problems or who may not even know they have problems – attending CJ’s courses, learning about Lean is just a great concept. I think attending CJ’s classes you’ll get to understand how you as an individual can take that back to your organization and apply it with any organization. At the end of the day organizations are ought to grow, to bring in revenues, to service their customers and it doesn’t matter what sector you are in or what industry you are in, Lean can be applied to any organization, any sector. And one of the things, I come from very unique sector and I wasn’t sure whether the Lean would be helpful and especially after attending this Green Belt course now, I see a lot of ways that I can use Lean. So I think for the most people out there, most organizations, I think you got to give Lean a shot.”
At the end Shannon Fernandes remembered what CJ had said to them that day, “Lean will help you. It may help you a little bit. It may help you a lot. But it will help you”, and he believed that was true. “And any help I can bring back to my organization makes me a more valuable employee at the end of the day,” he says.
